MoDOT does not have an official CSS program; our designers are instructed through our department's Project Development Manual to use good engineering judgment, involve the public as often as possible; and request design exceptions when necessary. MoDOT will be instituting an official CSS program through guidance and training over the next two years.

We believe our project designers do an above average job of identifying the environmental and cultural resource constraints of a project and tailor the design as much as possible to address the concerns of the affected community.

Between 200 and 300 Project Managers, Resident Engineers, Designers, Planners will be trained by Department staff.
